The ECM Michelangelo A Series Espresso Coffee Machines

Superior italian design by Augusto Zanoni combined with outstanding performances.

The primary objective of our Michelangelo series is to ensure the best results in the end product, the cup: creamy, full-bodied espressos, and aromatic cappuccinos with a fine, compact foam which thickles the palate.

For this reason we have built the Michelangelo, the true expression of the Italian espresso method.

Some expert have declared it the true culture of coffee drinking. The technologies adopted were carefully selected.

Michelangelo series machines are state-of-the-art espresso machines, thus eliminating unnecessary maintenance costs and technical assistance.

We have utilized only the best materials, paying particular attention to the components which come into direct contact with water and coffee.

The brewing groups used are considered by many the very best.

The thermosyphon circulation system is optimized and characterized by the over-sizing of the components.

We have used costly materials such as brass, stainless steel, die cast aluminium and super reliable electronics, which facilitate the connection to external auditing or technical control systems (laptop etc.).

High boiler capacities (8-14-22-29 litre). Special order: 18 litres on 2 groups and 27 litres on three groups. In this last case the heat exchangers are of 1, 3 litre capacity and the wattage is increased up to 50%.

Two boiler level sensors. One for regular level control and one for safety level control.

Heavy duty 4,05 kg brewing group with pre-infusion chamber plus progressive preinfusion piston for smoothest coffee extraction to obtain best aroma, body and crema.

TAGH: temperature adjusting group head allows setting brewing temperature individually for each single group. Consequently the same time boiler pressure (steam and hot water power) can be set quite high without risk to burn the coffee. This may reflect in an up to 40% increased steam power. ECM patent.

Boiler level sight glass remains crystal clean during whole lifetime of the equipment. The glass is rinsed at every boiler filling.

Manual mechanical boiler drain valve.

Hot water tempering valve mixes cold water to boiling hot boiler water to obtain well tempered hot water for long blacks / Americano.

4 automatic coffee portions per group (+ 1 automatic hot water key for each group and one semiautomatic key used also for programming)

Bodywork: all stainless steel (front panel work and cups tray), die cast aluminium (side panels), painted steel (rear side)

Standard colours: glossy or matt black, burgundy, grey

Special order:
• Low drip tray (not available on 1 group machines).
• Module for use of small cups on low drip trays.
• Special colours. Chrome finishing. 24 k gold finishing.
• No-burn steam wand (only the end nozzle gets hot. This increases the steam power (pressure), the steam quality (“drier”), allows easier cleaning of the wand and avoids injuries from touching by mistake boiling hot steam wands. Espressocompany SA patent pending.
• DAVS: dual anti vacuum system against milk being sucked inside the boiler. This system consists of the “regular” vacuum breaker valve and of a thermostatically controlled solenoid valve which opens and closes according to boiler temperature.
• Not available: digital display with self diagnostic, auditing and drink name display functions.
• Not available: Second manually portioned hot water tap for i.e. tea water.
• Not available: shot timer built into each group

1 Side panels made of diecast aluminum, varnished with a clear coat. 2 Touch pad (electromechanical): 1 button for semi-automatic brewing, 4 buttons for automatic coffee portion control, 1 button for automatic hot water portion control.
3 Extra high boiler capacity (standard is 14 litre on two group and 22 litre on three group machines; Michelangelo Millennium series machines come with 18 litre on two group and 27 litre on three group machines combined to 1.4 litre heat exchangers).
All commercial ECM machines come exclusively with a generously dimensioned thermosyphon system.
4 Hot water spout. Hot water feature comes with the tempering valve. This feature prevents dangerous hot water sprays and simultaneously mantains the correct temperature for tea and americanos. This feature also increases the steam output by up to 35%.
5 Cup heating tray, front panel and drip tray area are made of best quality stainless steel (AISI 304). 6 The famous heavy duty group weights over 4 kilos (appr. 9 lbs) providing maximum thermic stability. The mechanical pre-infusion system guarantees the smoothest coffee extraction with optimum aroma, crema and body of the coffee.
On special order: ECM's patented system for precise and easy temperature setting for each individual coffee brewing group.
7 Boiler water level control: all professional espresso machines made by ECM come with automatic boiler water level control. The Michelangelo series has a sight glass allowing visual control of boiler water levels. Rinsed at each boiler water fill, sight glass remains crystal clear even after years of service. 8 Dual pressure gauge for boiler and pump pressure.
